First in Driver Skills
Community Award Recipients
It is our pleasure to announce the success of the NYIT IEEE VEX Team at 2017 VEX Worlds - a four day long event with thousands of students from around the world, ranging from elementary school to the university level - the university division, VEX U, boasted 62 teams.
After four days of intense competition, Team NYIT, comprised of students from the School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, is #1 in the Driver Skills event with the highest score of 66. We finished the overall tournament placing 16th in our division.
Our team also brought home the Community Award:
"The Community Award is presented to a team recognized for making a difference in the community. This team demonstrates strong community building skills and has made many contributions to help support students and teams beyond their own school. This award is given to a team that makes a concerted effort to raise support in their community for technology education programs."
We would like to say thank you to our sponsors and supporters for your continued support of our Team.

Our Year in Review
This VEX Season has been full of ups and downs, full of laughter and some occasional tears. But this year has also been one of much celebration. Another great VEX Season has ended, but Starstruck is just around the corner. Watch out stars, because NYIT is coming!

VEX U ROBOT SKILLS

The 2016 VEX Worlds was a four day long event with thousands of students from around the world, ranging from elementary school to the university level - the university division, VEX U, boasted 59 teams.
After four days of intense competition, Team NYIT, comprised of students from the School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, is the World Champion of the VEX U Robot Skills event with the highest score of 433 and has been inducted into the REC Foundation STEM Hall of Fame. We finished the overall tournament with a 6-4 record, placing 14th in our division.
Our team also brought home the Amaze Award:
"The Amaze Award is presented to a team that has built a competition robot that clearly demonstrates overall quality. A solid mechanical design along with demonstrated robot programming, robustness, strong performance, and consistency are key attributes for this award."

MENTOR OF THE YEAR
We would like to congratulate Richard Mortimore, one of our most recent alumni on receiving the "Mentor of the Year" award. Ricky has been a member of the NYIT team since 2012 and continues to be an integral part of our team. He has also been a mentor to the Farmingdale VEX Robotics Team that performed very well in 2016 VEX Worlds this year. Ricky has been inducted into the REC Foundation STEM Hall of Fame.

Congratulations to NYIT's VEX Robotics Team for being able to compete at VEX Worlds. They will be competing against over 50 teams from all around the world and across the country. VEX Worlds will be held in Louisville, Kentucky at the Kentucky Exposition Center. The best teams from the U.S. and around the world will be competing for the title of world champions of this year's game, Nothing But Net.
